Medication Administration
This course is designed for support workers who give or assist with medicines as part of their mahi. You’ll learn how to follow safe processes, understand the laws and policies that protect everyone, and deliver medicines in a way that upholds dignity, culture, and trust.
We’ll walk through the 5 Rights (plus two more), explore delegation and supervision, and look at real-world examples of what can go wrong, and how to make it right.
By the end, you’ll have the confidence to give medicines safely, calmly, and inside your scope, with the knowledge to know when to pause, ask, or act.

Why this course is important?
Medicines save lives, but only when given safely and respectfully. Every dose is a moment of trust, between you, the nurse, and the person receiving it.
Errors in medication can cause serious harm, yet most are preventable through good habits, cultural awareness, and focus. This course helps you build those habits, slowing down, checking carefully, and seeing the person behind the medicine.
It’s not just about ticking boxes or giving tablets. It’s about protecting wellbeing, honouring people’s choices, and making sure every medicine is given with care, competence, and heart.
