Why this course is important?
When harm happens in care, the response can shape everything that follows.
A clear, compassionate disclosure can protect trust, uphold the person’s rights, and help whānau understand what has happened. Silence, delay, or defensiveness can deepen distress and leave people feeling excluded, unsafe, or misled.
This course helps teams respond to adverse events with honesty, courage, and care. It supports a culture where mistakes are not hidden, people are kept informed, and learning leads to safer practice.
Because good care is not only about preventing harm. It is also about how we show up when something has gone wrong.
